Malta Airshow September 2013

A first visit to Malta for the Airshow on Saturday 28th, with the two days before providing several other aircraft of interest at this fantastic airport for photography. These included a rare Saudi ATR-42 and even rarer Yemen AF CN-235 on delivery, with the Sri Lankan DC-8F that had been present for several months, thankfully still present... just!

Unfortunately no Libyan AF aircraft at the show this year, though some unplanned excitement was the arrival of the RAF Tornado, which lost its SPS bay door and rear half of the main underwing drop tank during the run and break, though landed safely. After six weeks on the Island, the aircraft eventually returned to the UK, though for an early retirement, flying direct to Leeming for RTP spares use.
